David Byrne - Here Lies Love

David ByrneDavid Byrne: Songs from Here Lies Love
Saturday, 3 February 2007, 8:00 PM
Carnegie Hall, NYC

"Here Lies Love" is David Byrnes's new "song cycle" about the life of Imelda Marcos, the former First Lady and erstwhile powerful political figure of the Philippines.
The music is informed by Mrs. Marcos' love of disco. Fatboy Slim made musical contributions to the mildly operatic, heavily theatrical piece.

Performed by David Byrne and his current road band, and mostly sung by two female singers (Joan Almedilla and Ganda Suthivarakom), "Here Lies Love" was both weird and splendid. The music was very rythmic and dancey, full of classic David Byrne melodies. The band was clad in the traditional Barong Tagalog.

(A Barong Tagalog (or simply Barong) is an embroidered formal garment of the Philippines. It is very lightweight and worn untucked, similar to a coat. It is the common wedding and formal attire for Filipino men. The term "Barong Tagalog" literally means "Tagalog dress" (i.e., baro ng Tagalog or dress of the Tagalog) in the Filipino language).

"Here Lies Love" is what Imelda wants inscribed on her gravestone.

Life in prison with no parole for Scandrick - Tim and Mark - My brothers now RIP

Laqwan Scandrick - MURDERER - Life in prison, no parole
This is a happy day here at Top40Sucks! as my brothers Tim and Mark were killed by this poor excuse for a human above..and that's too good of a description, just look at his eyes and it's obvious to see what piece of shi*t he is (Mark was killed from a broken heart from Tim's death). This proves the Justice system and many, many prayers and well wishes can really work.

'I have no reason to have any mercy on you whatsoever,' Judge Douglas Rastatter says in issuing the sentence.

The same family, friends and faith that Terry O'Connor said supported him since his brother Tim's death held him up again Thursday in a Clark County courtroom.

Just after 1 p.m., Judge Douglas Rastatter sentenced Laqwan Scandrick to life in prison without parole after a jury unanimously convicted Scandrick of killing Tim O'Connor.

"I don't think you even begin to understand the gravity of what you've done, the pain you've caused," Rastatter said, later adding, "I have no reason to have any mercy on you whatsoever."

The jury found Scandrick guilty on all charges — aggravated murder, tampering with evidence and two counts of felony murder. They deliberated for less than two hours.

He refused to stand while the judge read his sentence and repeatedly said, "Keep smiling," as he left the courtroom.

Terry O'Connor said it seemed like 10 years had passed, though he knew it was just more than 12 months since Tim, 46, died from two gunshot wounds Jan. 6, 2006.

Witnesses in the trial said Scandrick killed O'Connor after planning to rob him during a drug deal at O'Connor's Cypress Street home.

Tim and Terry O'Connor's father, Bill, said no one deserved to die the way his son did and agreed with the verdict and sentence.

"Basically all (Scandrick) is, is just a punk that shot an unarmed man in cold blood," Terry O'Connor said.

An eyewitness to the murder, Toya Crowley, who testified against Scandrick, could face charges for admitting she was present when O'Connor was killed and not trying to help him.

Clark County Assistant Prosecutor Brian Driscoll said the Springfield Police Division and the Clark County Prosecutor's Office will continue to investigate possible charges for Crowley, who is incarcerated on unrelated charges in the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville.

Terd Nugent, Total Prick

Ted Nugent
When "Terd" Nugent -- affectionately known as the "Nooooge" by legions of imbeciles who mistake the Ultimate Fighting Championship cage for the rock stage -- isn't being a total racist asshole, do you think he just hangs out in a suvival bunker shooting flaming crossbow arrows at his freakish wife (and reading fan mail from ullimike)?
