Does it Offend You, Yeah?, Metro Station, 3 Doors Down

This first band, "Does it Offend You, Yeah?" is a british electro rock band. They make good use of synths in their vocals to produce a unique sound that you cannot help but like. The group is probably most known for their live shows in which the group members are often seen breaking instruments and stage diving. Does it Offend You, Yeah? will be opening for part of the upcoming North American Nine Inch Nails tour, which I personally cannot wait for. The most interesting thing about this band, in my opinion, is that they got their name off of T.V. show The Office. One day they decided that they were going to name themselves after the first line someone said on TV after they turned it on. Does it Offend You, Yeah? Happened to be the line. This is Does it Offend You, Yeah?'s new single, "We Are Rockstars."

Metro Station is a relatively new band out of Hollywood, California. This band is up and coming and I have no doubt in my mind that this band will become bing in no time. Back in March they featured different fan videos on their myspace. The one I will be showing you today is the first featured fan video for Metro Station's "Shake it." The video itself is brilliant, and I know even if you do not enjoy the music, the video will not fail to make you smile and make your day.

The last song I will be featuring today is a new song from Three Doors Down. The song is entitled "Train." This is already their second single from their newest album, which was released May 20th of this year. I have a feeling that this will not be the last song from them that we will be hearing on the radio, however.

Anima Sound System - Gipsy Sound Clash - Rapidshare

Anima Sound System is a Hungarian electronic band founded in 1993 in Szombathely. Anima is one of the first and most important Hungarian electronic acts, a unique fusion of Eastern-European folk music and modern electronic styles. The band soon developed strong ties with the underground Tilos Rdi station in Budapest. Their first international performance, in 1996, took place in Vienna at "Soundsfair Festival", (as the only Eastern-European act) along with bands like Red Snapper, Goldie and Nightmares on Wax.

Anima Sound System - Gypsy Soundclash - Review

Album Review:

Starting out sounding like the Upsetters in the studio with Lee Perry on the opener, "Authar Manca," Anima Sound System seem to set the tone for the album -- a sound clash, after all, having its roots in reggae. But the mood shifts throughout the album. On tracks like "Mg, Mg" and "Sinsemillia," for example, airy female vocals and a chilled beat give a distinctly European feel, and the growling Roland 303 bass that introduces "Po Drom" leads into a beat that's more jungle than ragga and spends ten minutes working around ideas before heading into territory that's quite gypsy. In some ways, it's the sound of a band with a lot to say and not enough room for all the ideas. "Kalls" heads them back to reggae territory, with the accent on the off beat, but the ideas, floating between dub and ambience, are more abstract. This is music that hits you in the head more than in the gut. And they're not afraid of lightness and occasionally sounding quite poppy and accessible, as on "Tekerd," which seems more aimed at the chart than anything but works within the mad, varied context of this record. "Slow" doesn't exactly live up to its name, taking more of a sinewy weave through a groove, with brass and horns sliding in and out. But it makes a good end to a fabulous disc. ~ Chris Nickson, All Music Guide

Borat Soundtrack - OST (2006) - Rapidshare

Borat soundtrack is fantastic, containing music from some of the best known artists of the Eastern European Gypsy (Roma) genre: Goran Bregovic (former rock star turned award winning composer), Esma Redzepova, Kocani Orchestra, Ivo Papasov, and more. Some of the songs are actually on the soundtracks of other movies (particularly the songs of Bregovic) such as "Time of the Gypsies" and "Underground" (both movies by Emir Kusturica) and Esma, who sings the opening "Caje Sukarije" has numerous CDs of her own, performs in a variety of languages, and has a broad international following, as does Bregovic.
The Borat soundtrack is a true gem for any fan of the character or the musical artists! (Amazon User Review)

Outside Lands - 3 day San francisco Music Festival - Look at that Line Up!

Holy Crap. Holy Crap. Holy Crap. Have you seen the line up for "Outside Lands" in San Francisco August 22nd-24th? Reeeeeediiiiicuuulous. Radiohead and Beck Headline the first night with Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Ben Harper and The Innocent Criminals and Primus headlining the second night (what!?) and to top the final night off we have Jack Johnson, Wilco, and Widespread Panic (I could probably due with out Jack Johnson and Widespread...but The Mother Hips are playing!) Oh yeah, STEVE WINWOOD is playing the second night...STEVE WINWOOD!? WHAT!? Normally I'd think fuck seeing Steve Winwood on his own, but right now a little ex-traffic action sounds pretty damn cool in this kick ass summer weather we're having. Long story short...What a great 3 days and at $80 something a ticket you get to see over 10 bands as opposed to just seeing one...ticket prices really suck these days and upon reading an article in Spin magazine on who is making the money in the music industry it's the PROMOTERS because they know we'll pay an arm,leg and a left nut to see our favorite bands. Fuckers.

Slipknot, The Grammar Club, The Dollyrots

Slipknot is co-headlining with Disturbed in the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival this summer. Along with this concert, slipknot is also planning to release their newest album "All Hope is Gone," which is set to be released August 28th, 2008. This will be the fourth studio album, with the last being released in 2004. The band has stated that they wanted to make this album their heaviest to date, and their newest single from the album does this statement justice. This is Slipknot's "All Hope is Gone," the title track from their newest album.

This next band is really working to break through. They are an up and coming band that works hard to promote their band. I have a lot of respect for bands that offer a download of their single, but these guys go the extra mile and offer their full CD for download at their website. This song, entitled "Bank Holiday," is a great song that mashes rock, rap, and electronica type music together to gain a unique feel that really captures and grasps your attention. I definitely recommend checking this band out and downloading their debut album, "Bremelanotide."

The Dollyrots is a punk band that I have really been enjoying lately. Normally I am not really keen on punk, pop style music, but this band is really an exception for me. Their newest album, "Because I'm Awesome," has many good songs on it, which made it hard for me to choose which one I would be displaying. Eventually I decided to go with their new single, "Brand New Key."

Figli di Madre Ignota - Fez Club (2007) - Rapîdshare Download

Balkan rock and surfy guitars and breathless rhythm, to dance and jump.

Let's get down to the brass tacks: We love Balkan music and our music is done to make people dance. Is there a link between Renato Carosone and Firewater? Between Balkan brass bands and Fred Buscaglione? Can a bunch of nutty people raised on fog, pasta and hoaxes in Northern Italy play klezmer-balkan-polka-swing without having to disown aglio, olio and peperoncino spaghetti? The answer is less important than the question, the result more interesting than logically correct. The path in itself is intriguing.

FEZ CLUB features:

- an astounding collaboration with CIRCUS CONTRAPTION, who arranged and recorded for us a whole song, "Sadoman"

- the single "Theme from Paradise" produced by and played with talented trumpet player ROY PACI (Mau Mau, Radiobemba, Aretuska)

- a couple intrusions by BANDA OSIRIS, the italian crazy quartet and soundtracks composers

Soulidium, Flogging Molly, Jet Black Stare

While I was looking for some concerts that I might be interested in seeing this summer, I saw that Sevendust and Alter Bridge were playing a concert at my favorite venue in August. While looking at their supporting acts, I came across a band that I had not heard of before, Soulidium. I began to youtube them and check out a few of their songs, and was not disappointed in what I heard. I will definitely be checking out their CD soon, but first I wanted to show you my favorite song from what I heard on youtube, "The Light."

Flogging Molly is an Irish American band that formed in Los Angeles, California. I find it interesting that they have such thick accents and dialect yet formed in California and have been around for quite some time. As you know by now, I am a sucker for accents, and there is no exception here. It gives this song a little extra "umph." That along with the dialect makes this next song, "Requiem for a Dying Song," a great one. This comes straight off their new album, "Float."

This next band is a brand new one that I recently heard about on the radio. They call themselves Jet Black Stare, and are up and coming in the world of music. Back in early 2007, Rod Black, frustrated with his past bands, set out and found the perfect song writing companion Jeff Johnson. Together they formed the band and music. A year and a half later, the band is ready to release their debut album, "In This Life." This is their first single from the album, "Ready to Roll."

Balkan Beats Vol.3 (2008) - Rapidshare Download

In the early 90s, a young Bosnian named Robert Soko came to Berlin to start a new life. Robert began to throw parties with like-minded emigrants and played the old yugo hits - a symbol of long gone, peaceful Yugoslavia. After over 10 years, the BalkanBeats parties are "legenda". Twice a month, BalkanBeats are blasting in Berlin's Mudd Club: Gypsy grooves, tribal beats and Balkan ska. BalkanBeats became an international cult affair. Now, Soko plays New York and L.A. on a regular basis. BalkanBeats are highly addictive - it's in their savage energy, the colourful, fresh timbre, and passion. The inexhaustible diversity stems from Slavonic, Oriental, Jewish traditions, and from the culture of the Roma people. The music's natural openness enables an easy and exciting transfer to modern times. Fresh Balkan bands pick up those traditions and process them into an individual cultural amalgam. BalkanBeats presents the greatest hits from the Mudd Club on a CD. Traditional and urban sounds - diverse, explosive, and just over the top.

On a donc mis fin à notre collaboration."

3 Doors Down, Pennywise, 12 Stones

Three Doors Down released their self titled fourth album on May 20th of this year, which debuted at #1 on the billboard 200 selling over 150,000 copies in its first week. Their lead single off the album is "It's Not My Time," which is currently heard on radio stations around the world. Instead of showing you their lead single, I decided to show a song Three Doors Down did in honor of the National Guard. The song is entitled, "Citizen/Soldier."

Pennywise is a punk band that named themselves after a monster from the Stephen King novel, It. They have been around since 1988, but like many punk bands, are not heard mainstream. After hearing this song I knew more people should know about this band. This is my favorite song from them, "Something to Live For."

This last band is actually a band I had the chance to see in concert last night. They call themselves 12 Stones. 12 Stones definitely know how to work the crowd in a concert and got everyone into their music and energized. I picked out my favorite song from the concert to show you all. It is called adrenaline.

Watcha Clan - Diaspora Hi-Fi / A Mediterranean Caravan (2007) - Rapidshare Download

From the balkan mountains to mediterranean shores, oral traditions from Maghreb to the London dance scene, Watcha Clan propose a musical and spiritual journey both political and mystical. Gypsy sorcerer, elephant surfer from the mountains... the musicians of this strange cooperative of sound invites you on a voyage of multiple layers. Supreme Clem's programming (Laptop, harmonium, accordion, melodica) will blossom in full liberty, supported by the sounds of the guitar and bass of Mat "La Basse" whilst leaving ever more place for the sounds of Sista Ka's vocals. The sound of the entire world intertwining with samplers, or ancient languages, in the image of Hebrew and Arabic, answering to rap styles to be reborn in an energetic style, mixing traditional and cultures to modern expression of electro hip hop.
After the first tastes of autoproduction (20 000 albums sold in 5 years) several travels to Algeria, La Reunion, India, Cuba... and around 400 concerts (Spain, Germany, Hungria) Watcha Clan poses itself ready to realise a new work. Diaspora Hi-Fi / A Mediterranean Caravan is an album where birth will be given to a new universe even more skilled, more energetic and more focused shared in emotion and senuality, lyrically refined whatever the language.

Rammstein, The Ting Tings, Rehab, Lily Allen

The first song today comes from a german band. They call themselves Rammstein, and have been around for fourteen years now. What makes them unique is that they sing in mostly german. Though it is in a different language, it still does not make it difficult to enjoy this band. I cannot help but nod my head as soon as I hear their music. My favorite song of theirs is "Mann Gegen Mann," which roughly translates to Man against Man. To help you all out with the meaning of the song, I found a video with some English subtitles.

This next band is a band that I have just recently featured. In the previous post I showed you the song that they are most known for, but I don't always like to show the song that a band is most known for. I like to show everyone more than just the singles. After listening to two of their albums, I picked out my favorite song from the album "Graffiti the World." It is entitled "Bottles and Cans." The beat for this song instantly captures you. Throughout the album you can hear bottles and cans of spray paint faintly in the background that adds a cool feel that I'm sure not everyone catches. The lyrics throughout the song and album as a whole are genius as well.

The Ting Tings recently released their latest album, and in honor of their release, I thought I would show you my personal favorite song from the album. I really enjoy how unique and "far out" they go with their songs. Their music comes off a bit strange at times, but I think that is what makes them great. I think you will know very quickly what makes this song unique as soon as you listen to it. This is called "Great DJ."

I debated a long time on whether or not to post this next singer. It is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine that I am unsure you all will enjoy. I have a soft spot for accents, and Lily Allen really has a beautiful one that I can't help but be swooned by. The lyrics themselves are fairly amusing, as well as the music video. The song is entitled "Alfie."

Les Claypool turns from musician to DIRECTOR! - Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo

Les Claypool turns director creating a National Lampoons film about a band with "no limits, no fear, and no clue". The DVD will hit stores May 13th and knowing Les's wit from seeing him at shows to other videos such as Cheesy Home Video it's going to be pretty damn funny. Check out the Electric Apricot trailer below.

Dope, Nine Inch Nails, Spineshank, Dislocated Styles

I was looking back today at my old music files on my computer today I found a song by Dope. I found it a bit odd that I haven't really heard anything about them anywhere, so I went to look up some information on what they were up to. According to their wikipedia page (yea I know, not the best place to look) their newest album was due out today...June 10th, but was delayed for unknown reasons...though it was most likely due to them being out on tour. The song I discovered was an amazing song that really pumped me up, and I wanted to share it. The song is entitled, "Motivation."

Nine Inch Nails has recently released their latest album online, where they encourage people to download it for free. They offer many different types of download types and even encourage you to remix the songs, which I thought was pretty cool. On this website's first post ever, I featured their song, "Discipline." This time I am going to feature my favorite song off of the album, "Echoplex."

While I was cruising across the internet I came across the band Spineshank. I had previously not heard of the band or any of their songs, so, as always, I decided to look up some information on the band. Apparently after releasing an album in 2004, Spineshank decided to call it quits as the members of the band did not have a good connection with eachother, and had differences in their views of what the band should sound like. It really is a shame they parted ways, as this song, "Synthetic," is a good song.

I came across this band on complete accident, by accidentally clicking the wrong song on a playlist on a website I do not even remember. I was very happy that I did this though, as the song had me amazed. Again, this is one of those rap-rock mix type songs that I am in love with. Definitely a unique and different sound, though it really reminds me of Hed PE. This is Dislocated Style's "Liquefied."

Filter, Vanderveen, Walls of Jericho, Rehab

I've got some great music for you all today. Most of the songs today are stuff that you have probably never heard before, as the bands either come from a foreign country or have a unique sound. I'll start today's post off with a band you have most likely heard of before. Filter just released their newest album. I was a little disappointed when I heard their song, "Soldiers of Misfortune," as I really did not like that song at all, but was sparked up again after hearing their next single, "What's Next," which is a lot darker than the previous song. Now I definitely want to hear the full album.

I came across this next band by complete accident. I was clicking around and all of a sudden I heard this song playing, and was instantly hooked. It has a nice sound to it and is catchy as well. These guys are up and coming. I tried to look up some more information on these guys but drew blanks everywhere I looked. This is my favorite song of theirs, "Weekend Full of Weekends."

This next band has been around for close to ten years. They have recently received a lot of attention for their song "Ember Drive," which features corey taylor, singer for slipknot and stone sour. I would consider this song a softer rock, though it has a unique sound to it that I almost feel guilty about saying it is soft rock.

This last band is probably one you have not heard before. They call themselves Rehab, and is a mix between southern rock and rap, forming a unique, almost amusing sound that I actually enjoy. The lyrics are pretty cool as well, definitely want to give this song a listen. This is the bartender song.

Rivethead, Stuck Mojo, Atreyu, Disturbed

Previously I featured a song from Rivethead that was an amusing cover of Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back." Today I will bring you a more serious song of theirs that I have been enjoying a lot recently. It is entitled "It," and can be found on their most recent album, "The 13th Step."

This next band is very unique. Stuck Mojo is a blend of three members from a metal background and one member from a prominently hip-hop background. They formed together in 1989 in an experiment to see if this rock-rap mix would be accepted by fans across the world. Eighteen years, six released albums, and many world tours later, Stuck Mojo has proven that rock and rap blend together well. Their most popular album, "Southern Born Killers," was their most popular album, as they released it for free for download on the internet. This is my favorite track from them, "The Sky is Falling."

Atreyu is a band that has not been previously featured here. They are probably most known for their single "Falling Down" which is being played by rock radio stations throughout the country. Instead of showing you something that you have probably heard before, I decided to bring you a different track off their most recent album. This track is entitled, "Slow Burn."

In honor of Disturbed's release of the Tuesday release of their latest album, Indestructible, I wanted to show you all my personal favorite song from the album. This is "The Curse."

Disturbed, The Killers, Rock Kills Kid, Faithless

I've got another great lineup of songs for you today. This first song is in honor of the release of Disturbed's new album, "Indestructible." This is their first album since their highly awarded 2005 album, "Ten Thousand Fists." The song that I will be showing you all is entitled "Divide." It is my favorite song on the album. I would definitely recommend this album to everyone. Though I do not think it is as good as their Ten Thousand Fists album, I have only listened through it a couple of times. I am sure with a couple more listens that it will easily become my new favorite album. I cannot wait to see these guys play at the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival in July / August.

This next song is a song that I did not like at first, but after a few listens it grew on me and now I really enjoy it. I love The Killers' style of music as it really is not like any other band and is genuinely unique. This is The Killers' single, "Tranquilize."

Rock Kills Kid is a band that is up and coming within the music scene. They currently have two albums out, but only one of their songs has ever reached the charts. It is from their latter, 2006 album, "Are You Nervous?" The song is called "Paralyzed."

The last song that I have for you all today is a song that is a little something "special." I would not consider it rock, but when I heard it I was in awe. I felt that it was worthy enough to be heard. It is nice to toss up the genre of music every once in a while as well. Let me know what you think of this song.
